Fitz Intermediate is recognized as a California School to Watch

On Friday, March 6, during the California League of Middle Schools Conference in Long Beach, Fitz Intermediate Language Academy was awarded the 2026 California Schools to Watch designation.

The California Schools to Watch (STW) program recognizes high-performing middle-grades schools that excel in academic rigor, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and strong leadership, coordinated by the California League of Educators and the California Middle Grades Alliance, in partnership with the national Schools to Watch program. Schools apply by completing an extensive self-study rubric, followed by an expert validation visit, and are redesignated every three years, fostering a network for sharing best practices to help other middle schools improve.

This honor bestowed upon Fitz Intermediate celebrates the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the strong partnerships we share with our families and community, the Garden Grove way. Fitz is proud to be the third intermediate school in the Garden Grove Unified to earn this distinction, alongside Bell and McGarvin Intermediate Schools. Thank you, Fitz Families, for being such an important part of what makes our school truly special. This recognition belongs to all of us!
